THE STORY OF NEW YEAR’S BY THE BAY
—Make sure you WATCH UNTIL THE END—Discover Maine 09. Belfast, Maine, New Year's Eve! We are closing out the year and starting a New Year, 2019, in Belfast! You guys have to see this! I have never celebrated the New Year in such an amazing way! We found the heart of Belfast, and it beats loud and proud! Showing us all what it really means to come togehter as a community. There was a large variety of music, epic drumming in the streets, and an impressive march down Main street, to a massive Bonfire right on the Beach. All of this was put together to start the New Year as a community. There was even rain in December, that doesn't happen often. But even with the rain pouring down, it could not dampen the heart and spirit of Belfast! This is a must watch video to see what COMMUNITY really means! Everyone brings something special to a community and everyone brought that uniqueness to this event. The way everyone came together with whatever they had and brought the beat down Main street, it truly moved me and everyone who was there. It pulled us in and we felt the heart that is Belfast, Maine. Now go get out in 2019 and…Go Discover Something Awesome!!!!!!#godiscoversomethingawesome

Last year’s event proudly featured Mes Amis, Captain Obvious, Ellacapella, The Right Track, The Lowdown, The Katahdin Valley Boys and MANY MORE. We hope to see you in Belfast for the 24th Annual #NYBB2021! Come back to this site in the fall for more details. And you can always support our mission with a donation (donate button is on the right side of this page). Thank you!
With the help of dedicated volunteers and supporters and the participation of gifted performers NYBB continues to provide a chem.-free, affordable, safe, cultural arts celebration showcasing Belfast’s unique architectural downtown and promoting Belfast as the multicultural, renaissance city by the bay, that we are so blessed to enjoy all year long.
Belfast’s New Year’s By The Bay organization and event were created in 1997 from the inspiration and vision of one person. Like the children’s story about the little train and the big mountain the event started with one person saying “I Think I Can!” With great enthusiasm the idea was presented over and over to people and organizations, in our small rural community those first months. One by one, participation made a difference, the talk turned to planning and a sound foundation for the community event was established. The community said we’ll climb the mountain, “We Know We Can!”
To date, over 50,000 people have participated in NYBB. To continue this tradition we need the help of the community and you today! Every NYBB admission button we sell helps to support the start-up, production and performer costs of the event. There are no salary or administration costs. Venues donate their spaces, businesses provide in-kind support and volunteers work tirelessly to make this event a success. Donors help support and underwrite this event, to maintain affordable admission button prices.
